Eugene is currently updating its Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan, a project headed by David Roth at 682-5727 or david.f.rothci.eugene.or.us.
Our neighborhood has formed an Amazon Bicycle/Pedestrian Study Group to gather ideas about bikability and walkability within our neighborhood and to and from it. Members are Tasker Houston, Erik Muller, Connie Berglund, Paul Moore, Ruth Bryant. We are contributing recommendations on the following for our neighborhood:
What improvements can be made to make walking and bicycling a safer and more attractive option to using the car?
What changes in signing or lighting at intersections are needed? What connections through and into and out of the neighborhood can be improved?
What can be done to improve wheelchair travel and travel by schoolchildren to and from school?
Are there specific trouble areas you deal with or avoid in your walking and biking around Amazon?
What keeps you from walking or biking as much as you’d like in order to shop or commute?
Please contact one of the above study group members about our next meeting or activity to gain an understanding of these issues. Please share your ideas with them or e-mail them to the author.
