University of Oregon and community leaders will welcome UO students living off campus back to school and to the City of Eugene with door-to-door visits Tuesday, Sept. 28. The intent of the second annual Community Welcome event is to build and strengthen relationships between long-term residents and students in the Fairmount, South and West University neighborhoods.
While this year the event doesn’t include Amazon or Harlow neighborhoods, we recognize that many UO students live in your neighborhoods as well. Someday we hope to be able to cover even more neighborhoods. Until then, there is an additional way neighbors may participate.
Please feel free to invite neighbors to the town hall meeting facilitated by Mayor Piercy that immediately follows the Community Welcome about campus and community issues. Joining the mayor will be UO President Richard Lariviere, UO Vice President for Student Affairs Robin Holmes and Associated Students of the University of Oregon (ASUO) President Amelie Rousseau. The session will take place at 7 p.m. September 28 in the fellowship hall at Central Presbyterian Church, 555 E. 15th Ave.
Thank you and we hope to see you Tuesday evening!
