Two log cabins were built in the late '40s just north of the Masonic Cemetery along east 25th Ave. They were built as model advertisements of cabins that could be ordered as homes. They were not originally intended to be occupied, permanent homes on the site, yet that is what they became.
Many of us have admired these structures through the years, and I am surprised at the number of people I run into who have daydreamed about living in them, myself included. Their current owners keep them in excellent repair, and the more easterly cabin is being expanded from its original 680 square feet to include a larger kitchen (it is currently galley sized), a dining area, and another bedroom upstairs. The new square footage will put it at a bit more than 1000 square feet, no McMansion for our neighborhood!
Here are a few photos of the roof trusses that arrived recently. The truck mounted crane lifted them over the roof to the top of the newly framed walls. Several of us stood about gawking like excited children (also with some children) at the drama of the crane and trusses.

Trusses for our addition
