Saturday, January 15: Annual showcase hosted by the Willamette Valley Sustainable Foods Alliance of more than 25 local businesses who will be sampling locally produced cheeses, yogurt, wines, beers, kombuchas, breads, and other local fermented delicacies.
Demonstrations are scheduled for cheese making, kombucha making, beer brewing and vegetable ferments. Local food carts Devour and Viva Vegetarian Grill will be serving food using fermented ingredients throughout the day.
Christina Sasser and Jason Carriere will give presentations about the history and benefits of fermentation, vegetable ferments and alcohol ferments, and Andhi Reyna presenting on goat cheese and goat yogurt.
This event has an educational focus centered on discovering the many ways that fermentation is used in making foods and the different types of locally produced fermented foods, and is a fundraiser for Food for Lane County and the Willamette Valley Sustainable Foods Alliance.
Saturday, January 15 12:00pm - 5:00pm W.O.W. Hall - 291 W. 8th Ave Sliding scale admission $10-20 per person, or $5 with 2 cans of food. Children 12 and under are free.
