The southwest corner of the Masonic Cemetery slopes down to a gravel road. It is damp at this time of year and perfect for several of our native wildflowers. Blooming at this moment is Camassia quamash (camas) and Saxifraga integrifolia (grassland saxifrage). Just a bit to the north and under the oaks is the delicate trout lily Erythronium oregonum. Those will be gone soon. So, if I were you, I'd be out the door for a peek.
Stay on the paths please. Let's preserve this remnant of Willamette Valley oak prairie. Whitey, if I have any of these species names incorrect, DO correct me.
