Red wigglers are coming the East 25th Ave. this spring. Our neighborhood received a matching grant this spring to create a flow-through worm bin large enough to accommodate the food scraps from four households. This bin will be created with educational signage along our highly pedestrian visible alley and in cooperation with Masonic Cemetery as the bin will be sited on their property.

We will offer public tours and collect data with the purpose of taking this idea to more locations in our neighborhood.

We invite everyone to offer their support, their interest, or their time on this neighborhood project. We will be preparing the site on Saturday, May 14th at 11 am. It is an easy spot to clear and level, no stumps, no trees, no steep grade. There is mostly ivy, geranium, and candy flower to remove, and some very minor grade adjustment to accomplish (easy shovel work). If you're interested or have any questions about our neighborhood project, call Sherry Wellborn at 541-687-4889.

The bin is ordered (we'll be using a collapsible shipping crate), and we'll get it set up shortly after we receive it. The set up will include some alteration of the bin, but also ARTWORK by Annie Heron, and educational signage created locally.
